Die Roll

Die Roll puzzle

Your task is to roll a die down the grid provided, making sure to adhere to the rules given. Bear in mind that you’re going to need to decide on the optimal location in row 1 to place your die. Once you begin, you willnot be allowed to pick the die at any point in its journey to rotate it and affect which face is shown next. The die has to be rolled properly, face by face depending on whether it is rolled left, right, forward or backward, from the top of the grid to the bottom.

Rules:
1. There must be exactly four sixes and four two’s in the sequence.
2. All the topmost faces in your sequence must all add up to 71
3. You cannot cross a black square
4. You cannot flip your die diagonally.
5. You may start from any square on the top row, unless it is black.
6. The top most face of the dice at the end of your route must be 1 and the starting topmost face must be 4

Rebus Set 41

Needs very little explanation here. Six rebus puzzles to be solved.

See if you can solve all six.

Compartments

Compartments 1

Use three straight lines to separate each orb into their own compartments. Each line must touch the bounding box at either end, and must not touch another orb. The lines can cross if needed.

Compartments 2

This one is more complex than the first as you can plainly see. Apart from the obvious of more dots to cope with, there are also three partitions or walls thrown into the mix.

Your task: Separate the dots from each other by enclosing them in their own compartments with one continuous line.

Your line may cross itself as often as needed, but it can only ‘bounce’ off a boundary line or partition wall a total of 20 times and must not touch any dot. All sections of your line must be straight, and all three partition walls must be bounced off once only on each side along the way.
(Don’t worry about rebound angles, they can be as acute as you want them to be).

Corrupt Columns

An array of tiles displaying a two digit number has been corrupted. Someone has decided to reorder the tiles of the display slightly. We know that a tile form the bottom of two of the columns was removed and replaced at the top, pushing the whole column down by one tile, then the same was done to two of the rows by removing a tile from the left of the row and adding it to the right to push it over by one tile.

With this knowledge, you should be able to correct the display quite quickly. State which rows and columns you manipulated to complete your task.

Directions

If the ball had moved a square at a time, as per the directions given and the ball comes to rest as shown below, can you determine where the ball was to start with?

SOUTH, WEST, NORTH, EAST, EAST, NORTH, NORTH, WEST, WEST, SOUTH, EAST, EAST, EAST, NORTH, WEST, WEST, SOUTH, EAST, EAST, SOUTH, SOUTH, WEST.

Operation Airlock

DO NOT attempt this one unless you have a pencil, (of varying colours if possible), a steaming hot cuppa, and plenty of time!

You are in the decontamination matrix, at airlock Alpha of the space station Mystifaze. Your task is to get through the decon matrix to the Beta airlock via the shortest route possible, (least number of squares), and without going through more than one decon chamber along the way.

You are not allowed to move diagonally through the matrix.

Can you work out how many possible routes you could take?

Pick Up

Don’t forget to wash up before you leave!

Your task is to pick up all twelve knives. You are only allowed to pick up the top most knife each time, so can you figure out what the order would be to achieve this?

Teardrops

Use the clues given to complete this puzzle. Tackle it as you would any standard crossword except any answers you enter into the grid should have no E’s. And just for the heck of it, juggle the letters from the shaded squares for a bonus word!

How many teardrops are…

1. In the circle but no other shape
2. In the pentagon but no other shape
3. In the pentagon and triangle and none of the other shapes
4. In circle and star but no other shape
5. In the square and star but no other shape
6. In the intersecting area between the square and triangle but no other shape
7. In the square and pentagon but no other shapes, minus all teardrops in the star
8. In the triangle but not the star or square
9. In the star and circle then subtract all the teardrops found in the intersecting area between them
